An Oklahoma man has been arrested after challenging his former neighbor to a knife fight while wearing makeshift body armor made of adult magazines, reported KXII.

When police arrested the man, Donald Gaither, he had porn magazines taped together around his body for protection. He claimed he was in “survival mode.”

The victim, Troy Bagley, who used to live next door to Gaither in a mobile home community, claimed that Gaither showed up to his home with a knife in each hand, and yelled for him to “come out and get some.” Bagley swiftly called the authorities, who showed up to arrest Gaither.

Police found Gaither with a knife in each hand, as well as two knives in his belt. In addition, he had a large weight attached to a lanyard.

When questioned, Gaither said that he believed Bagley was responsible for Gaither getting kicked out of his mobile home park.

Former neighbors say that the tension between Gaither and Bagley had been brewing for some time.

When asked about his makeshift body armor, he told authorities that he had “been to prison, and [knew] what to do to protect himself.”

Police also believe that the man was under the influence.

“He appeared to be intoxicated somewhat, he did comply with the officer when he ordered him to the ground–at gunpoint–and he was holding knives in both hands whenever the deputy confronted him,” Sheriff John Christian told the local news.

“The suspect told him that he had been in prison before and that was a way that they used to protect their selves in a fight,” Christian added.

Police found out that Gaither had indeed been to prison before. He had served time for aggravated assault and battery, robbery, possession of stolen property, and extortion.

Gaither now faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, as well as possession of an offensive weapon.
