When a 33-year-old sent inappropriate messages to a 15-year-old girl, her family decided to take matters into their own hands.

They could have let the cops handle it, but that probably would have been a lot less satisfying.

Instead, this Oklahoma family set up a sting operation to take down the 33-year-old man who had been exchanging sexually explicit messages and photos with their 15-year-old daughter, reports local KOCO News.

The girl’s father, who wishes to remain anonymous, had discovered the relationship after monitoring her online messages. He reported the issue to the police, but then decided to take matters into his own hands after learning that the man and his daughter were planning to meet for the first time in person.

Posing as his own daughter online, the father lured the man to his home in a sting to take him down.

“The family took it upon themselves to pretend to be her and invite the suspect to the house to meet her in the backyard in a tent for the purpose to have sex,” Officer Jody Suit with the Del City Police Department told KOCO.

When the man arrived in the yard, he was in for an unpleasant surprise.

As the daughter sat inside the house, completely unaware of what was happening outside, four of her family members tackled the man to the ground and zip tied his hands and feet.

They kept him there while they dialed the cops to finish the job.

The suspect faces charges of unlawfully communicating with a minor — charges which, under a new House Bill, could soon result in a 15-year minimum sentence.

The police emphasized that they don’t recommend this sort of vigilante behavior.

“But as a parent, I don’t blame them,” Suit said. “I think it’s their right to protect their children.”
