An Astonishing Photo Of The March To Freedom

Marking the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, an estimated 200,000-300,000 individuals marched en masse to Washington DC to demand the civil and economic rights of African Americans. In addition to regularly scheduled transportation, more than 2,000 buses, 21 special trains, 10 chartered airliners and uncounted cars converged on Washington to mark this seminal event of American history.
