Unfortunately, the countries cloaked in an oppressive black aren’t surprising. In China, for example, criticism of the Communist Party is considered taboo and therefore most outward expressions of displeasure are censored by the government. So widespread is this censorship that Reporters Without Borders gave China the “sorry distinction of leading the free world in repression of the Internet”.
