Shark Clamping Down On Swimmer Has To Be Cut Off [VIDEO]

"It knocked the breath out of me so I had to get up for air, but I felt the shark biting and trying to tear me open. I thought I would drown.”

In a graphic video released earlier today, a Florida man can be seen with a nurse shark latched to his stomach.

Ervin Maccarty of Marathon, Florida was recently bitten by a nurse shark that refused to let go when he was swimming on the Florida coast near his home, reports The Daily Mail.

In the video, Maccarty exits the water and finds his way onto his boat with the shark still attached to his stomach. He is already visibly in pain as he joins his friends on the boat.

“I struggled to get back to the boat, Mccarty recalls. “It [the shark] hit me hard. It knocked the breath out of me so I had to get up for air, but I felt the shark biting and trying to tear me open. I thought I would drown.”

Maccarty makes his way onto the boat, where he lies down while his friends attempt to help him. At one point one of his friends on the boat asks, “He didn’t get your penis, did he?”

After numerous times attempting to remove the shark from Maccarty’s belly, his friends begin to cut into the small shark with a knife to free Maccarty.

Ervin can be heard screaming, “Don’t cut me! Don’t bleed him out on me.”

The shark continued to stay latched to Maccarty, biting as hard as it can, but it eventually loses its strength from loss of blood and releases its grip.

Though his harrowing experience on the floor of the boat seems terrifying, to Maccarty that was far from the worst part of the ordeal.

He says, “I had to get to the boat with no hands to swim with. It was a struggle and it wore me out. I eventually got there. The video tells the rest.”

Thankfully Maccarty is now recovered, though unfortunately, the nurse shark is very much dead.
