Five female nurses at a hospital in Denver were recently punished for repeatedly sneaking peeks at a male patient’s genitals and publicly, lewdly discussing them.
Denver 7 News reports that in May, five nurses at Denver Health Medical Center were suspended after inappropriately viewing the man’s genitals both while he was incapacitated and after he’d died.
Between March 31 and April 3, the nurses repeatedly viewed the man’s genitals and, at one point, even opened a body bag that the deceased patient was in so that they could admire the man’s reportedly large penis.
These incidents came to light in May when another nurse overheard inappropriate comments about the man’s genitals. She reported this to hospital administration, who then alerted the police.
The police ultimately let the hospital deal with the disciplinary matters internally, rather than pressing any charges. Originally only two nurses were suspended, but after further investigation, five women were found to have participated in this inappropriate behavior.
The Denver District Attorney said, referring to state prosecutors that, “They determined there was insufficient evidence to prove a crime was committed, no charges were filed, and referred the matter back to Denver Health to handle internally.”
The nurses were suspended for three weeks, but, aside from one who no longer works at the hospital (but not because she was fired) are all now back at work.
